COMMUNITY AND CONCERT ARTIST PRESENT DEBUT RECITAL.
YONKERS, NY – Acclaimed concert pianist, Sakura, daughter of Yonkers educator Cecilia Myers, returns for her Hometown debut recital “Impetus” at 2pm on Saturday, October 13, at the Grinton I. Will Library. The program will include works by Rosenblatt, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Joubert. The concert will be followed by a reception.
In anticipation of her hometown debut, pianist Sakura presented several recital lectures for the Arts Industry Academy (AIA) at Lincoln High School. In addition to performing excepts from her recital program, Sakura engaged students in conversations discussing the life of a concert artist, the challenges of striking a balance between creating a life and making a living as a performing artist, and the importance of self-discovery through music.
Several AIA students will work as part of the Impetus Production Team, helping to facilitate an authentic Classical Music experience. Through this unique collaboration students involved will gain valuable, first hand concert production experience in their own community. Several local businesses, such as Beyond Costumes and ServiceMaster Professional Cleaning Services have stepped in to sponsor Impetus, helping to bring this event to Yonkers school children and community.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at www.pianoguru.webconnex.com/IMPTIX or by calling the Box Office at 347.913.3324 Mon. – Fri. 12:00PM-3:00PM.
