Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship–Fairchester Chapter Appoints Michael Carter to Board of Directors
(White Plains, NY – November 5, 2012) – The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, Fairchester Chapter (NFTE FC), serving Westchester and Fairfield Counties, announces the appointment of Michael Carter, founding principal and Managing Director of Carter Morse & Mathias, a Southport, Connecticut based investment banking firm, to its Board of Directors.
Mr. Carter has been on the financial side of business from many perspectives – as a business founder, commercial lender, investment banker, board director, and business advisor. He began his career in private industry in operations and thereafter as a vice president at Chase Manhattan Bank. During his career he has been a board director for World Business Capital, First International Bancorp, Command Security Corporation, Sailways, Inc. and Cannondale Corporation. Mr. Carter is a founding member and board director of the Association for Corporate Growth, Connecticut Chapter.
Mr. Carter has been a judge for the Entrepreneur of the Year award sponsored by Ernst & Young and Inc. Magazine as well as various other business school competitions. He started teaching and advising in NFTE classrooms over ten years ago and has served as a judge for the NFTE FC county-wide competitions, which brings lower-income high school students together to present their business plans.
Mr. Carter received his master of business administration degree from Columbia University and his bacelor of arts degree from The University of Rochester. He was the President of the Weston Little League and has been active in coaching youth sports teams in Weston, Connecticut. Hecurrently serves on the Boards of the School for Ethical Education, the Board of Finance for the Town of Weston and is the President of Weston Sports Commission.
