Yonkers, N.Y.
– Jose Alvarado today released the following statement on public safety:
“My heart is filled with sorrow for southwest Yonkers families who have been scarred by violence and crime. As a member of the Westchester County Board of Legislators, I have fought to provide county resources, such as the helicopter and water units, which assist the Yonkers Police in fighting crime.
This has also included the Westchester County criminal intelligence unit, operated under District Attorney Janet DiFiore, where various police agencies gather and review criminal patterns, for the purpose of developing action plans to keep citizens safe. Providing resources to enable the efforts of our brave police force help eliminate these troubles.
Making Yonkers safer requires efforts by all of us. I am proud to be a member of the Third Precinct Community Council, and to work with different local parishes in the district such as San Andrews Episcopal Church, St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, and Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. The efforts of community institutions are bolstered by programs, which I have supported in the Westchester County Board of Legislators to enable conflict resolution, and to provide educational opportunities and job training.
I have always, and will continue to fight tirelessly to preserve vital resources that foster safer and more prosperous neighborhoods. Over the years, my efforts have faced many challenges. Rising to meet these challenges only fuels my passion to serve this community that I love. No obstacle is insurmountable, when we come together.”
County Legislator Alvarado seeks re-election to southwest Yonkers district 17, which he has represented since 2001. The Democratic Party primary is Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011.

Jose you are a disgrace. Two years ago you cheated and lied in the election process together with your disgrace of an attorney and campaign manager Wilson Soto. The two of you should hang your heads. Remember the crap you put on signs claiming you brought $50 million to Southwest Yonkers. YOU ARE A DREADFUL LIAR!
Furthermore, you are either absent, or brain dead when it comes to police brutality. You never once stood up to Wayne Simoes when he body-slammed Irma Marquez. You had nothing to say when Martin Perez was assassinated
