Title: Justice Department Establishes Hotline to Monitor November 3d Election – Sandy Annabi Calls on DA to Act before November 3d
Yonkers, NY
On October 19th, Sandy Annabi presented her memorandum with documentary evidence of election crimes and voter suppression to the Justice Department. Ms. Annabi lost the September 15th Democratic primary to incumbent, Jose Alvarado, by only five votes.
On October 28th, Ms. Annabi submitted additional evidence of election fraud. In response, the Justice Department’s Voting Rights Section has set up a voting hotline to monitor the November 3d election. Any voter frustrated in his or her attempt to vote, or who suspects foul play, is urged to call (800) 253-3931 and speak with Ass’t. Atty. Gen. John Russ. Arabic speakers can speak with Ass’t. Atty. Gen. Lema Bashir.
Ms. Annabi’s memorandum included proof that Jose Alvarado’s lawyer, Wilson Soto, lives at 8 Huron Street in Yonkers outside the 17th District, but cast an illegal vote for Alvarado claiming he lives at 279 South Broadway within the district. In response, Mr. Alvarado told the Journal News Ms. Annabi’s claims were “a fantasy,” and told News12 that Soto “has voted at that address forever,” clearly implying he believes Soto lives at 279 South Broadway.
However, Alvarado reported to the Westchester Board of Elections that, on February 24, 2009, he received a $1,000 contribution from Soto whose address Alvarado gave as 8 Huron Street.
In his debate with Ms. Annabi at the Chema Community Center last week , Mr. Alvarado tried to distance himself from Soto. In fact, Mr. Alvarado maintains his 17th District office inside Soto’s law firm located at 281 South Broadway.
The circumstantial evidence is compelling that Messrs. Alvarado and Soto conspired to commit election crimes. Ms. Annabi is calling on the DA’s office to take action before the November 3d election.
