D.A. and Justice Department Respond to Memorandum Detailing Election Crimes and Suppression of Minority Voters

Yonkers, NY – On October 5th, Sandy Annabi issued a press release calling for an official investigation into election crimes and voter suppression which caused her to lose the September 15th Democratic primary to incumbent, Jose Alvarado, by only five votes.

On October 19th, Sandy and her campaign advisor presented her memorandum with documentary evidence of election crimes and voter suppression to the head of the Public Integrity Bureau at the Westchester District Attorney’s office who advised that her allegations were serious and would be completely and thoroughly investigated.

Her memorandum was also presented to the Justice Department. Yesterday, her campaign advisor was contacted by the head of the Voting Rights Section in Washington, D.C. who sought further evidence of voter suppression. In response, Sandy presented affidavits.

Her campaign continues to collect evidence showing a pattern of suppressing her voters illegally turned away from the September 15th primary, or whose votes were sabotaged or wrongfully disqualified by the Westchester Board of Elections.

In the Journal News, Mr. Alvarado declared that Sandy’s claims of election fraud were “a complete fantasy.” That the D.A.’s office and Justice Department are actively investigating these claims indicates both state and federal officials apparently disagree with that.
