Reorganization Convention
It time for Democrats!
It has been an honor and a privilege for me to serve as your Chairman. When I became the Chairman in 2004, I said that if Democrats could work together that we would be successful. I said that District Leaders are the backbone of this party and that I would work with each of you to ensure our focus was on the goal of getting Democrats elected. Well we have been successful, we continue to have a Democratic majority on the City Council (Council President Chuck Lesnick, Majority Leader Sandy Annabi, Councilmembers Patricia McDow and Joan Grnowski) and we are poised for a Democratic sweep for State Legislative office- Senate AND Assembly. Along the way, Yonkers is being recognized for what it is, the 4th largest City in New York State.
I am respectfully requesting your support to continue the job of Chairman of the Yonkers Democratic Committee. Let’s continue the hard work that will elect our entire endorsed Democratic slate and catapult us into the races in 2009.
This is going to be an exciting year for Democrats. There are no Democratic primaries so we can really focus on turning Democrats out for the General Election. We must turn out Democrats to elect Senator Barack Obama President. Donate your time, your energy and your money to our candidates to help fuel the victories.
On the Federal level, Yonkers Democrats have endorsed Congressman Eliot Engel, Congresswoman Nita Lowey. At the State level, Yonkers Democrats have endorsed and will re-elect outstanding State legislators, State Senator Jeff Klein, State Senator Andrea-Stewart- Cousins, Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, Assemblyman James Gary Pretlow and Assemblyman Mike Spano. Of course, we will elect Judge Susan Capeci.
I am looking forward to seeing each of you at the convention September 10, 2008 at the Polish Community Center! I also hope all of you can attend the Annual City Dinner, November 1st, 2008 at The Polish Center. The cost for District Leaders is $75.00
Remember, in the words of Senator Clinton — “No way, no how, no McCain.”
Thank you for your support of the Yonkers Democratic Committee.
Sincerely,
Ken Jenkins
