Hevesi pleads guilty and will resign from office as part of plea deal.

New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi has pleaded guilty to one count of defrauding the governement, It is a Class E Felony. This will end this four month saga of one of the top political players in Albany. He also resigned as part of the plea deal. Hevesi is 66 years old. This is a very sad story and there are no winners in this terrible saga. Hevesi as part of the plea deal, will receive no jail time. Albany DA David Soares will hold a news conference at 12:30 PM today. The Legislature will jointly pick a replacement next year, and with Democrats far outnumbering Republicans, it’s expected the pick will be a Democrat.
